Acceptable use

Acceptable Use Policy

Effective: 5 October 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to your use of Film Tools, including the Film Tools website, applications, projects, collaboration features and share links.

It forms part of the Film Tools Terms & Conditions.

Film Tools is designed for legitimate film, production and creative work. Please use it responsibly.

1. Use Film Tools Lawfully

You must not use Film Tools to create, upload, store, share or distribute material that is unlawful.

This includes material that:

  • infringes another person's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
  • you do not have permission to use or share;
  • is fraudulent or deliberately deceptive;
  • contains malware or other harmful code;
  • violates applicable laws or regulations.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights and permissions for material you place in Film Tools.

2. Do Not Interfere with the Service

You must not:

  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to Film Tools, another person's account or another project;
  • bypass authentication, permissions or other security controls;
  • probe, scan or test the service for vulnerabilities without our permission;
  • interfere with or disrupt the operation of Film Tools;
  • deliberately overload the service;
  • introduce malware, viruses or harmful code;
  • use automated systems to access or extract information from Film Tools in a way that places unreasonable load on the service.

If you are conducting legitimate security research, contact security@film-tools.com first.

3. Respect Other Users and Productions

Film Tools is built for collaborative production work.

Do not use its comments, invitations, share links or other communication features to:

  • harass or threaten another person;
  • impersonate someone else;
  • send spam or unsolicited promotional messages;
  • deliberately expose confidential production material to unauthorised people.

You are responsible for deciding who you invite to a project and who receives a share link.

4. Protect Confidential Material

Film productions often contain material that is confidential or commercially sensitive.

Do not upload or share confidential information unless you are authorised to do so.

When using project invitations or share links, make sure the recipient is intended to have access.

Film Tools provides technical access controls, but you remain responsible for how you distribute links and permissions.

5. Do Not Misuse Accounts

Each Film Tools account is intended for the person to whom it was issued.

You must not:

  • share your password or account with another person;
  • use another person's account without permission;
  • create misleading identities;
  • attempt to obtain access to projects you have not been invited to;
  • continue accessing a project after your permission to do so has ended.

Tell us if you believe your account has been compromised.

6. Automated Use

You may not use bots, scripts, scraping systems or other automated tools to access Film Tools unless that functionality is provided by us or we have given you permission.

This does not prevent normal integrations or automated workflows that Film Tools expressly supports.

7. Intellectual Property

Do not use Film Tools to infringe intellectual property rights.

Only upload material that you own, are licensed to use, or otherwise have permission to use.

If you believe material hosted through Film Tools infringes your rights, contact us at:

legal@film-tools.com

8. Security Research

We welcome responsible security research.

If you find a possible security vulnerability:

  • tell us privately;
  • do not access information belonging to other users;
  • do not modify or delete data;
  • do not disrupt the service;
  • give us reasonable time to investigate before publishing information about the issue.

Security reports should be sent to:

security@film-tools.com

9. Excessive or Abusive Use

We may limit activity that places an unreasonable burden on Film Tools or affects the service for other users.

Where practical, we will contact you before taking action and try to resolve the issue.

This is intended to prevent abusive or technically disruptive use, not normal production activity.

10. Enforcement

If we reasonably believe that this policy has been breached, we may:

  • ask you to stop the activity;
  • remove or restrict access to specific material;
  • temporarily restrict an account or project;
  • suspend or terminate access in serious or repeated cases.

Where appropriate, we will try to contact you before taking action.

We may act immediately where necessary to protect users, Film Tools or third parties, or where required by law.

11. Reporting a Problem
