Terms & Conditions

Effective: 5 October 2026

These Terms govern your use of Film Tools, including the public website at film-tools.com, the Film Tools workspace and individual tools available through app.film-tools.com, and related services.

By using Film Tools, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who We Are

Film Tools is operated by:

2. What Film Tools Is

Film Tools is a growing collection of practical digital tools for film and production work.

Some tools may be large applications; others may be smaller utilities designed to solve a particular production task.

Storyboard is currently available in early access. Other tools, including tools shown as Coming soon, may still be in development.

We may add, change or remove tools over time.

Seeing a tool on film-tools.com does not mean that it is already available.

3. Early Access

Some Film Tools products may be offered in early access.

Early-access software is still being developed. This means:

  • features may change;
  • functionality may be added or removed;
  • bugs and interruptions may occur;
  • interfaces and workflows may change;
  • data formats may change as the product develops.

We will take reasonable care to operate the service reliably, but you should not rely on an early-access tool as the only copy or record of production-critical information.

Please keep appropriate backups of important material.

4. Accounts

You need a Film Tools account to use tools that are not publicly accessible.

Accounts are currently created by us or when an authorised project administrator adds someone to a project. There is no public self-registration.

You are responsible for:

  • providing accurate account information;
  • keeping your sign-in details secure;
  • not sharing your account with another person;
  • telling us if you believe someone has gained unauthorised access to your account.

You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless that activity resulted from a security failure on our side.

If you use Film Tools on behalf of a company, production or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.

5. Projects and Teams

Some Film Tools products allow people to work together in shared projects.

Project administrators may invite other users and decide what level of access they have.

Depending on the tool, access levels may allow someone to view, comment on, edit or administer project material.

You are responsible for deciding who should have access to your projects and for removing access when it is no longer appropriate.

6. Your Content

You keep ownership of the material you upload or create in Film Tools.

This may include, for example:

  • storyboard frames;
  • images;
  • scripts;
  • notes;
  • comments;
  • project information;
  • production documents;
  • names and contact information;
  • other files or information you add to a tool.

We do not claim ownership of your content.

You give us only the limited permission necessary to store, process, copy and display that material so that we can provide Film Tools to you and the people you have authorised.

This permission ends when the material is deleted from our systems, subject to reasonable technical processing and backup periods.

We do not use your project material to train AI models.

7. Material You Upload

You must have the right to upload and use the material you place in Film Tools.

Do not upload material that:

  • infringes somebody else's copyright, privacy or other rights;
  • is unlawful;
  • contains malware or malicious code;
  • you are not authorised to share with other members of the project.

If you are working for a client, production company, agency or other rights holder, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have permission to use their material in Film Tools.

8. Share Links

Some tools may allow you to create a link that lets someone view material without having a Film Tools account.

Anyone who has a valid share link may be able to see the material accessible through that link.

You are responsible for deciding:

  • who receives the link;
  • how long the link should remain active;
  • whether it should be password protected;
  • when it should be disabled.

Share links should not be treated as a substitute for your own confidentiality procedures where material is commercially sensitive or subject to an NDA.

We may provide technical controls such as passwords and expiry dates, but we cannot control what an authorised viewer does after viewing information you deliberately shared with them.

9. Comments and Activity History

Where a Film Tools product provides comments, activity history or similar collaboration features, other authorised members of the project may be able to see who performed an action and when.

Do not use comments or other communication features for unlawful, abusive or inappropriate purposes.

10. Exports

Some Film Tools products allow you to export material, for example as PDF or image files.

You are responsible for checking exported material before relying on it or sending it to someone else.

Film Tools does not guarantee that an export will reproduce every feature, colour, font, layout or piece of metadata exactly as it appeared inside the application.

11. What You May Not Do

You must not use Film Tools to:

  • break the law;
  • interfere with the service or other users;
  • attempt to gain access to accounts, projects or systems you are not authorised to access;
  • bypass security or access controls;
  • introduce malware or harmful code;
  • deliberately overload or disrupt the service;
  • scrape or systematically extract data from the service without permission;
  • reverse engineer the service except where applicable law expressly gives you that right;
  • use Film Tools to infringe another person's rights.

We may suspend or restrict access where we reasonably believe this is necessary to protect Film Tools, its users or third parties.

Our Acceptable Use Policy sets out these rules in more detail and forms part of these Terms.

12. Film Tools Intellectual Property

Film Tools itself belongs to Unlabelled SL and its licensors.

This includes, where applicable:

  • the software;
  • interface;
  • design;
  • branding;
  • logos;
  • documentation;
  • underlying systems;
  • original templates and other material created by us.

Using Film Tools does not transfer ownership of any of these rights to you.

You may use Film Tools only for the purposes for which the service is provided.

13. Feedback and Tool Requests

We welcome suggestions, ideas and requests for new tools or features.

If you send us an idea, you remain free to use that idea yourself.

However, submitting a suggestion does not give you ownership over a Film Tools feature or product that we later build, even where it is similar to something you suggested.

You allow us to use feedback and suggestions to develop and improve Film Tools without owing you compensation.

If you need an idea or project to remain confidential, please do not submit it through a general tool-request form. Contact us first so that appropriate confidentiality arrangements can be agreed.

14. Availability

We aim to keep Film Tools available and working reliably, but we cannot promise uninterrupted availability.

The service may occasionally be unavailable because of:

  • maintenance;
  • updates;
  • technical problems;
  • security incidents;
  • infrastructure or internet failures;
  • circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We may also temporarily disable functionality where that is reasonably necessary to protect users or the service.

15. Changes to Film Tools

Film Tools is an evolving product.

We may change:

  • features;
  • interfaces;
  • workflows;
  • technical requirements;
  • individual tools;
  • the way tools interact with each other.

We may also discontinue a tool.

Where a material change affects existing users or their stored work, we will make reasonable efforts to give advance notice where practical.

16. Coming-Soon Tools

A tool marked Coming soon, In development, Planned or similar is not a commitment to release that tool.

Development priorities can change.

Descriptions, screenshots and proposed features for unreleased tools are illustrative and may differ from the final product.

If you leave your email address to hear when a particular tool becomes available, we will use it for that purpose as explained in our Privacy Policy.

17. Fees

Film Tools is currently available without charge during early access.

There is currently no payment provider connected to the service.

We may introduce paid plans or paid tools in the future.

We will not begin charging you automatically merely because you previously used a free or early-access version.

If payment is introduced, the relevant price and payment terms will be shown before you agree to purchase anything.

18. Third-Party Infrastructure

Film Tools relies on third-party technology and infrastructure providers to operate.

Our current providers are described in our Privacy Policy.

Although we select providers with care, parts of the service may sometimes be affected by failures or interruptions in third-party infrastructure that are outside our direct control.

19. Privacy

Our handling of personal data is explained separately in our Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy forms an important part of how Film Tools operates but is not replaced by these Terms.

Where a company or production uses Film Tools to process personal data on behalf of others, additional data-protection obligations may apply.

A Data Processing Agreement can be requested where required.

20. Your Responsibility for Production Decisions

Film Tools is designed to help organise and communicate production information.

It does not replace professional judgement.

You remain responsible for checking information before relying on it for decisions involving matters such as:

  • crew;
  • schedules;
  • working hours;
  • budgets;
  • contracts;
  • safety;
  • locations;
  • equipment;
  • legal compliance;
  • production logistics.

Where a Film Tools product performs calculations or generates documents, you should check the result before using it for contractual, payroll, safety, regulatory or other important purposes.

21. No Professional Advice

Film Tools does not provide legal, accounting, tax, employment, health and safety or other regulated professional advice.

Any templates, calculations or organisational tools we provide are intended to assist production workflows, not replace advice from an appropriately qualified professional where that is required.

22. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

Subject to that, Film Tools is provided on an "as available" basis, particularly during early access.

We are not responsible for losses caused by matters outside our reasonable control.

We are also not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of Film Tools, such as lost profits, lost opportunities or production delays, except where applicable law does not allow such a limitation.

You remain responsible for keeping appropriate copies and backups of production-critical material.

Nothing in these Terms affects any mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

23. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using Film Tools at any time.

You may also ask us to close your account.

We may suspend or terminate access if:

  • you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms;
  • your use creates a security risk;
  • your use is unlawful;
  • we are legally required to do so;
  • continuing to provide the service is no longer reasonably possible.

Where appropriate, we will try to give you notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue before terminating access.

You can request deletion of your account and stored project data as described in our Privacy Policy.

24. If Film Tools Closes a Service

If we decide to discontinue a tool that contains user-created material, we will make reasonable efforts to give affected users advance notice and, where reasonably possible, an opportunity to export their material.

This does not apply where immediate closure is necessary for legal, security or technical reasons.

25. Changes to These Terms

Film Tools will evolve, and these Terms may need to change with it.

If we make a material change, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.

Where reasonably possible, we will also tell existing account holders about significant changes that affect their use of the service.

Continuing to use Film Tools after updated Terms take effect means that the updated Terms apply to your continued use.

26. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain.

If you use Film Tools as a business or professional user, disputes arising from these Terms will be subject to the courts with jurisdiction over Unlabelled SL's registered office, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

If you use Film Tools as a consumer, nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory rights or jurisdiction protections available to you under applicable consumer law.
